History of the Kernersville Arts and Crafts Guild
The Kernersville Arts and Crafts Guild was founded in September of 1974 by Dixie Weisner. After moving to the area, Miss Dixie was happy to find many crafters seeking camaraderie and a way to showcase their handmade items. The Guild's first Arts & Crafts Show for the community was held on July 4, 1975, with twenty members taking part. The first annual Christmas Store opened in 1987, a 4-week long event showcasing guild members arts and crafts. Since then, the Guild has expanded its community involvement to include The Kernersville Spring Folly Arts & Crafts Show, with artisans coming from far and wide to take part. In 2014 the Guild embraced the idea of buy local and created the Home Grown Arts Fest, where artisans from across the state again join guild members in showcasing their creations. With 50 current members, the Guild is always seeking new crafters to join in the fun. Please see the Jury Tab for information on how to join.
